City tax, flu shot, missing Cass County woman in the news today

Good morning!

In the news today, the Bemidji City Council is scheduled to meet tomorrow to discuss a new special use tax initiative. The city has previously discussed multiple ways they could use a new tax, from lessening the burden for property taxpayers for the Sanford Center, to an amateur youth sports commission, as well as help pay for infrastructure such as wastewater and water. The city needs legislative approval before any tax can take the next step forward.

In other stories, the Minnesota Department of Health is urging people to get their flu shot before flu season hits.

A missing Cass County woman’s vehicle was recently found, and hunters are urged to keep an eye out for her. Michelle Mae, 33, of Outing, is 5’1″, with green eyes, short dark hair and tattoos on her forearms. She was last heard from Oct. 4.
