Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett is writing his own comic book series.
The project, which currently has the working title Nights of Lono, will be among the first titles from AMC Networks Publishing, the newly launched book publishing arm of AMC Networks, the entertainment company that owns The Walking Dead channel AMC.
According to a press release, Nights of Lono will be about a “troubled female detective in 1989 Hawaii who is hired to find King Kamehameha‘s tomb before it is discovered by an unscrupulous occultist from the mainland.” Hammett will write the series alongside Marcel Feldmar.
Meanwhile, Hammett has been prepping his debut solo EP, titled Portals. The four-track instrumental collection will be released April 23.
